With The Smoky Velvet, I wanted to bring together two very different worlds: the organic beauty of pale moon ebony and an almost artificial, glowing color on the body.
The fingerboard has this wonderful two-tone character, shifting between pale wood and deep black natural markings. The black ring inlays partially disappear into the darker areas of the wood, creating a subtle visual game between visibility and camouflage.
To balance the cool, smoky purple finish, I chose gold hardware and golden frets. They add warmth, light, and a touch of luxury - like small reflections on dark velvet.
