The story of the New York Vertical Series
New York Vertical (1996) is photographer Horst Hamann's most iconic work, featuring striking black-and-white vertical panoramas of New York City. Highlighting the city’s towering architecture, the book captures its monumental beauty from a unique perspective. The project gained international recognition, with exhibitions worldwide cementing Hamann’s reputation as a master of urban photography. Jens Ritter discovered the book NEW YORK VERTICAL in New York City in the late 1990s and has been an admirer of Hamann's work ever since. It is a great honor for Jens to collaborate with Horst Hamann in creating this INTUNE FRAMES series.
Horst Hamann - Biography
Horst Hamann (born 1958 in Mannheim, Germany) is a renowned German photographer, best known for his black-and-white vertical panoramas. After studying photography in Mannheim, he moved to New York in the 1980s, where he developed his signature style. His work has been exhibited globally, including at the MUSEUM OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK (first living german photograper with solo exhibition) and the MoMA, and has earned him critical acclaim.
